How to use Trutone Plus Electrolarynx with USB Charger?
Batteries
- Use 9 volt style rechargeable or disposable batteries.
- Install battery (F) as shown. Match Positive(+) and Negative(-) Battery Contacts (H).
- Use until volume fades. Charge Rechargeable Batteries 16-18 hours with the Basic Charger.
- Do not recharge disposable batteries.
Electrolarynx use on the neck
- Place the Sound-Head (A) against your neck and activate. Do not cover stoma.
- Speak as sound is carried into your mouth.
- Ensure an airtight seal against your neck and try different positions until you get the best sound.
- Use the oral adapter in cases of a tender neck or excess buzzing.
Optional Oral Adapter & Straw
- Insert Oral Straw (I) into top of Oral Cap (J).
- Place Oral Cap over Sound-Head (A).
- Place Oral Straw in mouth.
- Activate Electrolarynx. Speak around Oral Straw.
Adjusting Tone
- Tone Adjustment (K) is located next to the battery contacts (H).
- Turn the adjustment with a screwdriver. Counterclockwise for a higher tone. Clockwise to lower tone.
- Make small adjustments, then test.
- One complete turn covers all tones.
Volume Level and Sound-Head Gap
- Set the volume level by laming Volume Knob (D).
- Next, turn the Sound Head (A) to increase or decrease the Sound-Head Gap (B) for the best sound.
- Sound-Head Gap is usually about Imm. Smaller at low volumes.
- Also, Adjust when batteries are fresh or old. The gray Sound-Button provides a sharper sound, Note: for better penetration. The Black Sound-Button is smoother and more natural.
Cleaning Instructions
- Clean by wiping the outside of your speech aid with a damp cloth.
- Do not allow liquids or cleaners to enter the speech aid openings. Oils, Electrical Contact Cleaners, Harsh Chemicals, or Sprays may damage the speech aid.
- Do not immerse your speech aid in water or other liquids. If it is accidentally immersed, remove the caps from the body and allow the speech aid to air dry for 1-2 days before testing.
- If a low volume or muffled sound is experienced, try adjusting the sound head gap. If the sound head gap seems properly adjusted, test your speech aid with a fresh, high-quality, 9-volt style alkaline battery.
- If excessive buzzing is experienced, ensure the head is in full contact with your neck, try different neck positions, lower the volume, adjust the sound head gap, or use the oral adapter.
- Decrease sensitivity if the tone of your speech aid drifts or warbles uncontrollably.
