Tips for Safe Transfer of the Patient

1. Sitting on the wheelchair slide board: At first, a caregiver would assist you in sitting on the slide board. For additional support, you can wear a transfer gait belt that lets caregivers support you more easily.
    
2. Moving carefully and slowly on the board: After sitting securely on the board, move slowly and safely and be careful about the movements while you transfer from the board.
    
3. Protecting the skin and sitting in the correct position: Make sure your skin does not get pinched while moving on the sliding board. For that, you can use a sliding sheet that eases movement. Also, move across the board with proper positioning of your legs and feet, and never put your hands or fingers under the board.
    
4. Transfer between surfaces of the same height: Moving between two surfaces that have the same height or a bit lower height helps in easy transfer and reduces the work for you and the caregiver.
