How to use Conformant 2 Non-Adherent Contact Layer?
The following treatments are designed to act as general guidelines and should only be done under the direct supervision of an appropriate healthcare professional
For Burns
- Cleanse the wound using sterile saline or other appropriate wound cleanser.
- Conformant 2 may be coated with topical ointment, cut to size and then wrapped around a burn before applying the secondary dressing. Conformant 2 is non-absorbent and the ointment will stay on the burn site longer.
- If repeat cleansing is necessary, this may be done through the Conformant 2 dressing.
For Shallow Chronic Wounds (Stage II Ulcers)
- Cleanse the wound using sterile saline or other appropriate wound cleanser.
- Apply Conformant 2 directly to the wound site so that the edges extend beyond the wound edge.
- Apply the secondary dressing.
- If repeat cleansing is necessary, this may be done through the Conformant 2 dressing.
For Deep Cavity Wounds (Stage III or IV)
- Cleanse the wound using sterile saline or other appropriate wound cleanser.
- Apply Conformant Dressing directly to the wound site so that the edges extend beyond the wound edge.
- Pack the dressing with powder, paste, granules or other appropriate packing material before applying.
- If repeat cleansing is necessary, this may be done through the Conformant dressing.
When to use Conformant 2 Wound Veil?
Conformant Dressings are indicated to provide covering for the wound bed. For OTC applications, CONFORMANT 2 may be used for the management of minor wounds including:
- Abrasions
- Skin tears
- Minor burns and scalds
Under the care of a healthcare professional, CONFORMANT 2 may be used in the management of partial and full thickness wounds including:
Precautions taken while using Smith & Nephew Conformant Wound Contact Layer
- During the body's normal healing process, unnecessary material is removed from the wound which will make the wound appear larger after the first few dressing changes. If the wound continues to get larger after the first few dressing changes, consult an appropriate healthcare professional.
- Should any signs of irritation (redness, swelling, increased burning sensation), maceration (over-hydration of the skin), hyper-granulation (excess tissue) or sensitivity (allergic reactions) appear, discontinue use and consult an appropriate healthcare professional.
- This product is not recommended for use on sensitve areas, such as around the face and eyes, unless under the advice of an appropriate healthcare professional.
- Not for 3rd degree burns.
