How to use Urinary Drainage Bags?

• Always make sure that the catheter and drainage bag tubing are connected firmly
• Periodic inspection of the system should be made to ensure urine is flowing freely
• Rusch Urinary Drainage Bag should be placed near the foot of the bed and below the level of the patient's hip
• Excess tubing should be arranged in such a manner that it permits straight line (easy) flow of urine and does not allow the tubing to kink or fall below the level of drainage bag

How to clean a Rusch Bedside Drainage Bag?

1. Wash your hands thoroughly before starting the process.
2. Empty the bag into the toilet and rinse the bag with cold water twice.
3. After putting cold water inside the bag, shake it rigorously for about 20 seconds and drain the water into the toilet.
4. Now, add 2 parts of vinegar into 3 parts of water. Use this mixture to thoroughly cleanse the overnight catheter bag.
5. Let the pouch dry before using it again.
