How to use PureWick System For Men?

Setting up your PureWick Urine Collection System Set For Men

1. Plug the power cord into the device outlet and into an A/C power outlet.
   • Note: Make sure the power switch is turned OFF
2. Place the collection canister in the base and press down firmly on the lid of the device, making sure the lid is sealed
3. Optional: If you are using the optional privacy cover, slip the cover onto the canister before placing the canister into the base
4. Attach the pump tubing (short tube) to the Urine Collection System connector port and to the connector port on the collection canister lid
5. Attach the elbow connector to the collector tubing and connect the elbow connector to the connector port on the collection canister lid
6. Connect other ends of collector tubing (long tube) to the PureWick external catheter

Warning

1. Do not use on irritated skin. Examples include, but are not limited to, rashes, skin tears, or blisters.
2. Do not cover fresh surgical wounds with the device.
3. To avoid potential skin injury, always peel in the direction from head to foot.
4. Stop use if an allergic reaction occurs.
5. Replace at least every 8 to 12 hours or if soiled with feces or blood
6. Assess skin for compromise and perform perineal care prior to placement of a new male external catheter

Precaution

1. Do not use barrier creams or ointments on the penis around the base of the penis when using the device.
2. Proceed with caution in users who have had recent surgery of the external male anatomy.
3. Always check skin for irritation or breakdown and clean and dry the skin prior to placement of a new device.
4. Not recommended for users who:
   • Are agitated, combative, or uncooperative and might remove the device.
   • Have frequent episodes of bowel incontinence without a fecal management system in place.
   • Have skin irritation or breakdown at the site.
