How to use Omron Gel Refills?

Reminder:

• The cord with pads does not work correctly without the PMGELs. For safety and effectiveness, they must be used together.
• Inspect the cord with pads for open wires or damage before use. If damaged, do not use it and replace it immediately because it could cause skin burns or fire.
• Clean and dry the affected area, so it is free of all lotions/oils/sweat. The PMGEL with cord and pads should be applied only to normal, intact, clean, healthy skin.

Instruction to use:

1. Remove gels from sealed plastic containers.
2. Peel off the thin plastic film that is blank.
3. Place this sticky gel side over the black rectangular area of the Heat Pain Pro’s cord with a pad.
4. Make sure the gels lay evenly and securely with no bubbles, bending, or missing pieces. Check for damage and check the adhesion before each therapy session.
5. Next, peel off the other thin plastic film that says “Skin.”
6. Place the remaining sticky gel side around the area of pain at least 1 inch apart (Do not let them touch). Place the gel with the cord and pads onto normal, clean, dry, healthy skin that is not experiencing any swelling or inflammation.

Note:

• Do not share the same gels with another person because of the risks of adverse skin reactions and to prevent the spread of disease.
• Do not use gel pads after Exp. date.

When to replace the Gel Pads?

If the gel no longer sticks firmly to your skin or if more than 25% of the gel is not in contact with your skin, replace the gel.

Tips to remember while using Omron Gel Pads for Tens Unit

• Try not to bend or fold the cord with pads with PMGELs during therapy or while storing.
• In between uses, keep the PMGELs and cord with pads together and place the sticky side down onto either side of the plastic pad holder.
• Wrap the cord around the plastic pad holder.
• With proper storage and use, you may extend the life of your PMGELs to 30 uses. The life of the PMGELs may vary due to skin conditions and storage conditions.
• Store in a cool, dry place.

Warnings:

• Do not place the pads over your neck because this causes severe muscle spasms resulting in the closure of your airway, difficulty in breathing, or adverse effects on the heart rhythm or blood pressure.
• Do not place the pads across your chest because the introduction of electrical current into the chest may cause rhythm disturbances to your heart, which could be lethal.
• Do not place the pads over open wounds or rashes or swollen, red, infected, inflamed areas or skin eruptions (e.g., phlebitis, thrombophlebitis, varicose veins).
• Do not place the pads over or in proximity to cancerous lesions.
• Do not place the pads on persons incapable of expressing their thoughts or intentions.
• Do not place the pads on persons incapable of operating the unit by themselves.
• Do not place the pads while sleeping.
• Do not place the pads while driving, operating machinery, or during any activity in which electrical stimulation can put you at risk of injury.
• Do not place the pads on infants, toddlers, children, or pregnant women.
• Use carefully. It may cause serious burns.
• Do not use over sensitive skin areas or in the presence of poor circulation.
• Do not use these gel pads during exercise, while sweating, when using a heating pad, or under a blanket.
• If your pain does not improve, becomes more than mild, or continues for more than five days, stop using the device and consult with your physician.

Omron Heat Pain Pro Gel Refills FAQ

What is the difference between the Long Life Pads and the Gel Pads from the Heat Pain Pro?

The Gel Pads were designed to be used with the heat function of the Heat Pain Pro and the pads are attached to the electrode cord. To share the unit, we recommend that each user have their own electrode cord with gel pads to prevent cross-contamination.

How long do the Gel Refills (PMGEL) last on the Heat Pain Pro?

The Gel Pads last up to 30 uses. We recommend changing the gel when they no longer firmly stick to your skin or when less than 25% sticks to the skin. When replacing your gels on the Heat pain Pro, remove the protective film and install gel on the original pad. Do not rinse under water or clean the gel pads.

Does it matter which side of the Gel Refills should be placed on the pads and on my skin?

Yes, it does matter. The side of the gel with the blank plastic film is more adhesive, so it sticks to the pads instead of your skin when the pads are removed from the skin after treatment. Please follow these instructions when applying your Gel Refill: Each gel has 2 plastic films on the top and bottom. Remove the blank plastic film first and place the gel squarely onto the dark surface of the pad. Then, remove the plastic film that has the word “Skin” printed on it, and apply the pad to your skin.

After applying the Gel Refills to the pads of the Heat Pain Pro, can I remove the gels to reposition them?

No, once the gels are removed from the pad, their quality diminishes and cannot be reapplied, and a new gel will need to be applied. Once you have applied the gels to the pad, do not remove them until you are ready to replace them.
