Your doctor or Registered Dietitian will determine how many servings of Novasource complete nutritional formula to have each day. The number of servings per day depends on the amount of fluid you are allowed each day and how many calories and grams of protein you need each day to stay well-nourished. Since it contains 475 calories and 22 g of protein in 8 fl oz, typically one serving per day is recommended, but remember to ask your doctor or Registered Dietitian how much is right for you.

Pre-dialysis patients often need to restrict protein in their diet. Once patients are on dialysis, they need to have a higher protein diet to replace the protein that is often filtered out during the dialysis treatment. Q. Who should not drink Novasource Renal Formula?
Novasource RENAL formula is not appropriate if you are not on dialysis and are on a low protein diet to try to delay dialysis. Novasource Renal formula is not appropriate if you have an allergy to milk protein or soy protein. It is also not appropriate if you are eating well, do not need to gain weight, and your albumin (blood protein) is within the normal range, and you are not at risk for malnutrition.

Q. How should I store Novasource Renal formula unopened and once opened?
Novasource Renal formula may be stored unopened at room temperature. It is best when served chilled. Do not freeze. Remember to shake well before opening.
