How to use Mextra Superabsorbent Non-Adhesive Dressing?

Clean the wound area and select a suitable size of Mextra Superabsorbent.

Apply Mextra Superabsorbent directly on the wound area with the white side of the dressing onto the wound. For best results, the pad should overlap the dry surrounding skin by at least 2 cm. Mextra Superabsorbent can also be used together with a wound contact layer, such as Mepitel and Mepilex Transfer.

Secure Mextra Superabsorbent with a suitable bandage such as a Tubifast bandage or a fixation tape. It can also be used under a compression bandage where appropriate.

Frequency of change of Molnlycke Mextra Superabsorbent Dressing

The wound and Mextra Superabsorbent should be inspected regularly. The dressing should be changed based on the condition of the wound or before the dressing has become saturated. Mextra Superabsorbent may be left on the wound for several days.

How does Molnlycke Mextra Superabsorbent Dressings Work?

• The first hydrophilic wound contact layer quickly attracts and absorbs fluid, transmitting it evenly into the second, polyester and viscose non-woven distribution layer. 
• The third absorbent layer is made of a structured balance of superabsorbent particles and fibers. While the former absorbs fluid and transforms it into a gel, the cellular fibers enable the rest of the fluid to flow through the superabsorbent particles. This layer also stops the dressing from becoming too bulky and prevents the peri-wound skin from becoming macerated as a result of fluid leakage. 
• The final layer is the fluid-repellent backing, which is vapor-permeable so that fluid can evaporate through it. This layer also minimizes strike-through and remains dry, thus promoting patient comfort and protecting the peri-wound skin from tissue damage.
