The Medtronic Kendall Argyle Salem Sump Nasogastric Tube makes continuous and intermittent gastric suctioning safer. The large lumen facilitates suction of gastric contents, decompression, irrigation, and medication administration. The narrower vent lumen allows atmospheric air to enter the tube and equalises the vacuum pressure in the stomach after the contents have been emptied. This keeps the suction eyelets from adhering to the stomach lining and damaging it.
