How to Test Blood with McKesson True Metrix Pro Professional Monitoring Meter?
- Check dates on the test strip vial being used. Do not use either 4 months after first opening or after date printed next to EXP on label has passed, whichever comes first.
- Clean the area to be lanced with an approved disinfectant. Dry thoroughly.
- Remove one Strip from vial. Close the vial immediately. Use test strips quickly after removal from the vial.
- With the meter off, insert test strip Contact End (blocks facing up) into Test Port. The meter turns on. Keep test strip in meter until testing is finished. To mark test as alternate site (forearm) result, press “ ▶ ” Button. ALT Symbol appears in Display. Press “ ◀ ” Button to remove ALT Symbol.
- Wait until Drop Symbol appears in Display.
Note: If test strip has been out of the vial too long before testing, an error message appears upon insertion of the test strip into the meter. Release and discard old test strip. Use new test strip for testing
- Obtain the blood sample. Allow drop to form (see Obtaining a Blood Sample).
- With test strip still in meter, touch Tip of test strip to top of blood drop and allow blood to be drawn into test strip. Remove Sample Tip from blood drop immediately after the meter beeps and dashes appear across the meter Display.
Note: If meter does not begin testing soon after touching Sample Tip to drop, discard test strip. Repeat the test with a new test strip and a new blood drop. If the problem persists, see Troubleshooting.
- Dashes appear across Display to show meter is testing.
- After the test is finished, result is displayed. The Strip Release Button flashes. Record result as required by your facility
- Hold meter with test strip pointing down. Press Strip Release Button to discard test strip in the appropriate container. The meter turns off. The result is stored in Memory with the date and time.
- Discard all biohazard materials into an appropriate containers. Wash hands after taking off gloves.
Note: Removing test strip before result displays cancel the test. An error message appears and the result is not stored in Memory. Retest with a new test strip and do not remove before result is displayed.
How to clean this meter?
- Always wash hands and wear gloves when performing blood glucose testing, and when cleaning and disinfecting the meter; contact with blood presents a potential infection risk.
- To Clean: Make sure meter is off and a test strip is not inserted. Wipe the outside of the meter thoroughly with a fresh Super Sani-Cloth Wipe. Discard wipe.
- Using a new Super Sani-Cloth wipe, rub the entire outside of the meter using 3 circular wiping motions with moderate pressure on the front, back, left side, right side, top and bottom of the meter.
- Repeat as needed until all surfaces are visibly clean. Discard used wipes.
- To Disinfect: Using fresh wipes, ensure that the outside surfaces of the meter stays wet for 2 minutes. NEVER put meter in liquids or allow any liquids to enter the test port.
- Let meter thoroughly air dry before using it to test.
- Properly dispose of gloves and wipes after cleaning. Wash hands after removing gloves.

Nipro Diagnostics, Inc. provides the following Warranty to the original purchaser of the McKesson TRUE METRIX® PRO Professional Monitoring Blood Glucose Meter:
- Nipro Diagnostics Inc. warrants this meter to be free of defects in materials and workmanship at the time of purchase. If the meter is ever inoperative, Nipro Diagnostics, Inc will replace the meter with an equivalent meter, at its option, at no cost to the purchaser. Failure of the meter due to abuse or use not in accordance with the instructions for use is not covered by this Warranty.
- This Warranty does not include the battery supplied with the meter.
- Do not take the meter apart. This action will void the Warranty and cause the meter to display false results.
- The duration of any implied Warranty, including any implied Warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose shall be limited to the lifetime in use with the original user in accordance with any state law to the contrary.
