How to wear McKesson Plantar Night Splint?
- The splint should be applied with the patient seated.
- Loosen the upper and lower straps and place foot into splint. Ensure that the heel is securely seated at the back of the splint. Figure 1.
- Secure the lower strap first by threading it through the D-ring on the opposing side of the splint and attach with the contact closure. Secure the upper strap the same as the lower strap. Figure 2. Straps should be snug but not tight. If numbness or tingling occurs while wearing splint, contact your physician.
- Both upper and lower straps may be trimmed if necessary for proper fit. Release the strap from the Y-tab on one side of the splint, trim the strap to desired length, and reposition it for proper fit. The strap pad may be repositioned for optimum comfort.
- An athletic sock may be worn on foot for additional comfort.
- Side straps may be gradually tightened to increase flexion of the foot for rehabilitation. A toe wedge may be placed at the forefoot between the liner and boot to provide additional stretch.
Note: This product is not designed for the patient in a weight-bearing situation or everyday ambulation.
How to clean?
- Liner may be removed and hand washed in cold water (86°F/30°C).
- Air Dry.
- Shell may be wiped down with damp cloth.
