1. To use the sensory loss detector, hold the filament by the paper handle
2. Use an easy motion to touch the filament to the skin on your foot for 2-3 seconds
3. Touch alongside of, and not directly on, an ulcer, callus, or scar, Push just enough to make the filament bend
