Applying The Tube Attachment Device

1. Wash the patient’s nose with any residue-free soap and water.
2. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely.
3. Do not use any lotions or emollients as the residue will interfere with the adhesion of the barrier.
4. Remove the release paper from the adhesive barrier
5. Position the device so the clamp extends approximately 1/2" (12.7 mm) below the tip of the nose.
6. Apply the barrier to the patient’s nose by pressing down firmly, but gently, across the barrier surface to assure proper adhesion.
7. Hold gently to the skin for 60 seconds.
8. Secure the feeding tube by closing the clamp around it and squeeze the arms firmly to fully engage the serrated teeth.
9. Tube should be held tightly, but clamp should not occlude lumen of tube.
10. NOTE: The Hollister feeding tube attachment device should be monitored regularly to confirm barrier adhesion to the nose.
