How to use Drive Patient Lift Sling?

• If a patient needs support and is in a hospital bed, raise side rails and have the patient hold onto rails. Raise the level of the bed to the highest position before moving the patient onto the sling.
• Note: This will reduce strain on the caregiver’s lower back. Also, when the patient is ready to be lifted, lower the side rails and the level of the bed, decreasing the distance you have to elevate the patient.
• To place a sling under the patient, follow sling instructions below depending on the type of sling you are using.
  • Put the folded sling behind the patient’s back. Roll the patient onto the back.
  • Pull the leg loops forward and under the thighs.
  • Cross the loops.
• Roll the base of the patient lift as far under the bed as possible, placing the cradle over the patient. Take caution not to lower the frame onto the patient. Before lifting the patient be sure the lifter arm is centered over the patient. Remember, when lifting a patient, the parking brake should NOT be used.
• When both sides of the sling are attached to their respective side of the cradle, raise the patient slowly. If a patient is in the hospital bed, it will help to raise the head of the bed. Repositioning of a patient may be needed to ensure that a safe sitting position is attained as the patient is raised.
• Raise patient until buttocks are just above the mattress. A self-leveling cradle will bring a patient into a sitting position. 
• Hold steering handles and move the lifter away from the bed. Move the patient into position over the seat of a locked wheelchair.
• Lower patient into a wheelchair or other transport devices into transport position. For more details see the transfer from wheelchair or chair.

How to remove Drive Medical Lift Sling from under patient?

1. Remove armrest from chair if possible. Disconnect sling from the lift. 
2. Stand in front of the patient, lean forward, and place the patient’s hands on the patient’s knees for stability. Pull patient sling flaps to the side, out from under the patient's thighs.
3. Still standing in front of the patient, reach back and pull U-Sling up from behind the patient. Reposition patient back into the chair.

Washing Instructions of Drive Medical Sling

1. Machine Wash in warm or cold water
   • Maximum washing temperature 185°F (85°C)
   • Wash at 160°F (71°C) for 3 minutes
   • Wash at 145°F (63°C) for 10 minutes
   • Air dry, or tumble dry at cool or very low temperature
   • Do not tumble dry at high temperature
