- Adjust temperature control on the hand console starting at the blue dot (allow 10 minutes for the temperature to stabilize) and adjust to the temperature prescribed by a physician. (Temperature indicated by the thermometer.)
- When the ice has melted, refill it with ice and water. Make sure the device is unplugged during the refilling procedure.
ICEMAN With Dual Pump Recirculation Technology
The DonJoy IceMan boasts a patented recirculation mechanism that effectively maintains a constant flow of cool water throughout the cold pad. This innovative system ensures that water, which warms up as it passes through the cold pad, is retained and blended with fresh, cooler ice water, guaranteeing consistent cooling distribution within the pad.

IceMan CLASSIC3 Cold Therapy Unit FAQs
What can I use other than standard ice cubes to cool the water in my IceMan Classic3 or Clear3 Unit?
Suitable approaches for cooling the water involve placing it in Red Solo Cups or Tupperware and freezing the contents to create sizable ice blocks. Once formed, these blocks can be easily extracted and transferred into the unit.
Can I freeze water bottles and place them into the IceMan Classic3 or Clear3 unit?
It is not advisable for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the plastic from the bottle forms a barrier between the ice and the water in the unit, hindering the water from attaining the optimal therapeutic temperature. Secondly, the breakdown of paper and/or glue from the water bottle label can introduce problems if it enters the hose or pad.
The pad doesn’t seem to feel very cold. How do I know the water is cold enough?
The therapeutic range for cold therapy encompasses temperatures below 55°F. Our semi-closed loop system employs a mixing chamber and maintains a flow rate that directs water into the pad within the ideal treatment range of 38°F to 42°F.
Ensure that the unit is adequately filled with ice to effectively cool the water. Double-check the ice level to guarantee optimal cooling performance.
