How to Use DonJoy Armor Knee Brace?
1. A: While sitting on the edge of a chair, step through the brace. Flexing the knee to 45°, position the brace as in Figure 1, centering the hinge about 1" (2.54 cm) above the top of the kneecap and slightly past the midline of the leg. Make sure the brace is not twisted on the leg. B: Secure the bottom calf strap first (#1), then the top thigh strap (#2)
Â
2. C: Keeping the knee bent at 45 degrees, push both condyles (hinges) toward the back of the leg, as shown in Figure 2. D: Maintaining the position of the hinges: for the ACL version, secure the lower thigh strap (#3); for the PCL version, secure the upper calf strap (#3); for the CI version, secure the lower thigh strap (#3) then the upper calf strap (#4) on the back of the leg
Â
3. E: For the ACL version, draw the hinges forward slightly before fastening the front tibial (shin) strap (#4). For the PCL version, draw the hinges forward slightly before fastening the front thigh strap (#4). For the CI version, draw the hinges forward slightly before fastening the front tibial (shin) (#5) and the front thigh strap (#6). Do not pull the hinges beyond the midline of the leg. F: For the ACL version next, secure the upper calf strap (#5). Be careful not to pull this strap too tight and risk circulation problems
Â
4. G: When all strapping is complete, the hinge should center just above the top of the kneecap and slightly behind the midline. To ensure that no slippage occurs during activity, it is recommended to do a few knee bends or walks for a few minutes, then tighten the straps following steps B-F or B-E for the CI version
