How to Apply Stoma Paste?

There are two ways to apply Stomahesive Paste: Apply directly to the skin barrier or Apply directly to the skin.

Application to skin barrier/wafer (pre-cut or cut-to-fit)

1. Prepare the skin barrier
2. Apply a thin bead of paste on the back of the barrier around the opening on the adhesive side.
   • Do not spread the paste.
   • Do not apply it to the outer rim of the barrier.
3. Center the skin barrier over the stoma.
4. Apply gentle pressure over the entire barrier, especially around the stoma, to ensure a good seal.
5. The pressure will distribute the paste under the barrier and will cause it to rise around the stoma, creating an additional seal.

Application to skin

• To protect the skin around the stoma:
  1. Apply the stoma adhesive Paste directly to the skin immediately surrounding the stoma
  2. Apply enough paste to cover any exposed skin between the barrier and the stoma
• To create a level pouching surface:
  1. Apply Stomahesive Paste directly to the skin where folds, uneven surfaces, or scars are present
  2. To move or manipulate the paste, wet your finger first
  3. Wetting the finger allows movement of the paste and prevents it from sticking to the fingers
  4. Center the skin barrier over the stoma
  5. Apply gentle pressure over the entire barrier, especially around the stoma, to ensure a good seal
  6. The pressure will distribute the paste under the barrier and will cause it to rise around the stoma, creating an additional seal

How to Remove Stoma Paste from Skin?

1. Stomahesive Paste is easily removed from the skin barrier after it has been in place for 48 hours
2. To remove the barrier from your skin, support the skin with one hand and gently peel the barrier away from your skin.
3. AllKare Adhesive Remover Wipes may be used to facilitate skin barrier and/or adhesive residue removal
4. If not all Stomahesive Paste is removed, use warm water and a soft cloth to remove the remaining paste
5. It is not necessary to remove all of the paste prior to a new application
6. The portion that is not easily removed should be left in place rather than risking irritation to the skin by scrubbing to remove it
