How to wear a Comfy Splint Boot?

1. Remove the Comfy Multi Podus Boot and open the Velcro closures. Write the patient's name on the splint

 

2. Perform passive Range of Motion to the ankle to allow for maximum range. Flex the Knee and place the foot in a splint.

 

3. Close Velcro fasteners for a snug fit but ensure that the heel of Comfy Podus Boot is floating free.

 

4. Adjusting the Toe-Posts Loosen the knob on the bottom of the Comfy Brace. Position the toe post to extend beyond the toes, in order to protect the toes. Tighten the knob.

 

5. For the individual who is lying on their side, the toe post can be positioned obliquely to minimize pressure on the side of the foot. Loosen the knob on the sole of the Podus Boot and rotate the Toe-Post. Re-tighten the knob.

 

6. The Anti-Rotation Bar may be used to position the foot for internal and external rotation. Loosen the knob on the back of the Comfy Splints Comfy Boot and position the bar on the side to which the leg is rotating. Tighten the knob

 

Safety Precautions while using Comfy Boot Splint

• The Comfy Boot is designed for single-patient use only and must be applied by trained personnel.
• Remove the Comfy brace at least once a shift to assess skin integrity and pressure areas.
• Do not wear a Comfy multi-podus boot, and the physician is notified if: there is persistent redness or irritation or if excessive pain or swelling develops.
