Before Each Use

  2. Ensure all parts are secure and moving parts are in good working order.
  3. Ensure the seat lock and steering column lever are securely locked.
  4. All four wheels MUST be in contact with the floor at all times during use to ensure the steerable knee walker is properly balanced.
  5. Be aware of your surroundings when operating the steerable knee walker. Watch for safety hazards like cords, floor rugs, and other obstacles.

Using Your Knee Walker

  1. Place the injured leg on the bench, centered side-to-side, and position it forward to cover the full length of the bench.
  2. With the injured leg on the bench, stand as straight as possible (adjust the height as necessary).
  3. With the injured foot pointing down, the propulsion leg should be kept as close as possible to the bench.
  4. While on your toes, start out with small steps with the propulsion leg. Concentrate on keeping that leg next to the bench. With practice, you should be able to move forward without deviating to the opposite side.

Using the Hand Brake

  1. The steerable knee walker's brake is similar to a bicycle and also has a locking feature.
  2. To use the brake, simply pull the lever with your fingertips toward the handlebar.
  3. Pull the brake lever towards the handlebar and push down on the spring-loaded push button (located on top of the brake) to lock the brake.
  4. When correctly engaged, the push button will remain down, and the brake lever will be locked.
  5. To release the brake, simply pull the lever towards the handlebar. The push pin will pop up automatically.

Cleaning Instructions

To ensure that your steerable knee walker will have a long service life, inspect it regularly and follow these general maintenance tips:

  • Wipe the frame with a soft, damp cloth at least once a week to remove any dust and dirt. If exposed to moisture, dry immediately. Do not use an abrasive cleaner that will scratch the finish.
  • Use only a clean towel dampened with cool water when cleaning hand grips and padded cushions. Confirm that the grips are dry before use. NEVER use ammonia-based cleaning solutions or soap on hand grips or cushions, which may cause them to loosen or crack.
  • Clean wheels with warm water and a mild cleanser. Dry with a clean rag.
  • Periodically inspect that the brakes, seat lever, steering column, and wheels are functioning properly and that all parts are secure. If any issues develop, discontinue use until they have been addressed.
