How to apply 3M Tegaderm Silicone Foam Dressing?

Before Using the Dressing

1. Cleanse wound and surrounding skin according to facility policy.
2. Dry surrounding skin and assess the wound.
3. Select the appropriate size dressing to ensure that the foam pad is larger than the wound area.

Applying the Dressing

1. Remove the dressing from the package.
2. Hold the dressing by one of the side tabs, remove the white liner, and position the dressing over the wound. (Fig 1.)
3. Gently press the dressing to the skin and avoid stretching the dressing or the skin. (fig 2.)
4. Start at the center; remove the blue paper by pulling toward the outer edge of the dressing, one section at a time. (fig 3.)
5. Lastly, press the dressing to conform to the skin. (fig 4.)

Removal Instructions

1. Tegaderm Silicone Foam Border Dressing can remain in place for up to 7 days.
2. Change dressing when exudate reaches edges or begins to leak.
3. To remove, lift the edge of the dressing carefully.
4. If adhered to the wound, saturate with normal saline and gently loosen.
5. Continue lifting until the dressing is free from the skin.
