Ethicon Dermabond Advanced Topical Skin Adhesive is a medical adhesive used for closing wounds, cuts, and incisions on the skin. It is a liquid adhesive that polymerizes quickly and forms a strong bond with the skin, creating a waterproof and protective seal that helps to reduce the risk of infection and scarring. Dermabond is made up of two components: 2-octyl cyanoacrylate and a stabilizer. When the two components are combined, they form a polymer that bonds to the skin and provides a secure closure. The adhesive is clear, so it does not obstruct the view of the wound, and it is flexible, which allows it to move with the skin as it heals.

Precautions
Ethicon Dermabond Adhesive is a sterile, liquid skin adhesive that holds wound edges together. The film will usually remain in place for 5 to 10 days, then naturally fall off the skin. The following will answer some of your questions and provide instructions for proper care for your wound while it is healing.
It is suitable for certain types of wounds, such as clean, straight incisions, lacerations, and surgical incisions that are less than 5 cm long. It may not be appropriate for wounds that are contaminated or infected or in areas that are difficult to close with an adhesive.
It is generally painless. Some patients may feel a slight burning or stinging sensation when the adhesive is applied, but this usually subsides quickly. Removal is also generally painless, and the adhesive will eventually slough off on its own as the wound heals.
It will typically stay on the skin for about 5-10 days, after which it will start to slough off on its own. In some cases, the adhesive may come off earlier if it is exposed to water or if it is rubbed or scratched.
Ethicon Dermabond advanced topical skin adhesive can be used on children and pregnant women, but medical professionals will evaluate each case individually to determine if it is an appropriate treatment option.
Like any medical procedure, there are some risks and potential side effects associated with the use of Dermabond. These may include allergic reactions, wound dehiscence, and delayed healing. However, these risks are generally low, and medical professionals will carefully evaluate each case to minimize any potential complications.
